Gloria Sibongiseni Gaqa
Africa Green Energies is building biogas technology that enables consumers to ease their energy burden by making use of biogas.
In 2020, Sibongiseni imported a home biodigester for R 17 000 as a proof of concept.
Her plan is to manufacture biodigesters locally for R 2,500 each, making them affordable for low-income families and communities without electricity.
"Methane is the biggest polluter as it is a greenhouse gas. We are therefore looking at redirecting food waste from going to the landfills by making use of the biodigester technology to produce biogas, which can be used for cooking, heating and electricity generation."
